A Bouncer At An Elite Saloon Finds Out Why Alcohol Overdose Signs And Symptoms Can Save An Individual's Life
Just a week ago, Ryan applied for a job as a bouncer at one of the local discotheques. He had studied karate, gatka, ninjitsu, aikido, and judo for ten years; he was a weight lifter; he took daily supplements, minerals, and vitamins; he was into healthy eating and health foods; and he seemed well suited for such a job. When Ryan got notice that he had been hand picked for the job, he was extremely satisfied. Due to the fact that this was a special disco, however, he had to go through a four week instructional class.
On the first day of class, the trainer started talking about drinkers who drink in an abusive manner and what the barmaids, bouncers, and bartenders should do when this state of affairs arises. When the teacher started talking about alcohol poisoning, Ryan was happy to learn that all of the new bouncers, barmaids, and bartenders had to learn about an alcohol overdose and precisely what they should do when they observed an individual who was manifesting alcohol poisoning symptoms or displaying alcohol poisoning signs.
More explicitly, all the new bartenders, barmaids, and bouncers were instructed that nausea and vomiting were almost without exception one of the first signs of alcohol poisoning and that unconsciousness was conceivably the most highly noticeable alcohol overdose symptom or sign. The teacher went out of his way to highlight the fact that alcohol overdose symptoms were signals from the brain and from the body that the person had ingested more alcohol than his or her body can metabolize.
There were, nevertheless, more than a few other signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning that all the new bouncers, barmaids, and bartenders were taught to be familiar with. For example, the class members were made aware that people who experience alcohol poisoning exhibit confusion, they are difficult to awaken, exhibit poor reflex responses, and they often have seizures.
What is more, the members in the class learned that many drinkers who suffer from alcohol poisoning also display slurred speech; blue tinged or pale skin; little response from painful stimuli, for instance from pinching; and slow, shallow or irregular breathing.
To underscore the influence that binge drinking has on alcohol poisoning, the lecturer told the members of the class that a person who gets intoxicated just once annually is, by definition, involving himself or herself in alcohol abuse. Such a person, however, is in all probability not alcohol addicted, but is in all likelihood engaging in binge drinking. As articulated by the lecturer, engaging in binge drinking even one time, regrettably, can lead to an alcohol overdose that in some cases can be deadly.
The teacher then informed the class that the best response for an alcohol overdose is the following: if it is assumed that a drinker has alcohol poisoning, call 911 and ask for immediate medical assistance, even if the person is underage. By taking this plan of action, the drinker will get the prompt alcohol poisoning medical attention she or he requires.
After learning about alcohol poisoning and particularly about the signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning, it may be noted, Ryan realized that he had learned some vital information that might save a person's life in the distant future. As a matter of fact, Ryan learned that knowledge of the conventional alcohol poisoning symptoms and signs and knowing how to properly and quickly react to such symptoms and signs (by immediately calling 911 and asking for emergency medical assistance) can help a drinker avoid a deadly case of alcohol poisoning.
