A Young Female Rises Above Her Depression, Gets Alcohol Rehab For Her Excessive And Abusive Drinking, And Bolsters Her Self Worth

Emily was a forty-seven-year-old photographer who was tired of feeling depressed everyday and fed up with her unhealthy and excessive drinking behavior. Stated simply, she was sick of feeling lackluster every morning, she hated the hangovers she went through on a regular basis, she was tired of going through failed relationship after failed relationship due to her excessive drinking, she was angry with herself for spending her hard-earned money on a valueless habit, and she missed her old motivation for doing various things she enjoyed.

On top of the visible alcohol-related health issues she was experiencing, in all probability the most troublesome part of her drinking routine was the untrustworthy and scheming person she had turned into. In her heart of hearts she knew that she had been dishonest about her drinking activities with friends, family, and relatives and she also knew she had been less than truthful with herself about the "beneficial" outcomes of drinking. Not only this but she made excuses for guzzling two or three alcoholic beverages before going to social events and she also made excuses for needing several drinks as soon as she awakened so that she could cope with the "anxiety" at her job. Simply put, Emily got to a critical time in her life during which she saw that she hit a low point in life and was now prepared to begin the gradual path that leads to recovery.

One of the fundamental ways that Emily put her "plan" into action was by requesting a transfer at work. When her request was approved, she moved 750 miles away to a different part of the United States. If nothing else, this absolutely made making new pals and separating herself from her old friends and buddies easier. Then she went to see a physician in her new town and scheduled an appointment for a comprehensive psychological and physical exam.

After meeting with the doctor and going through several laboratory tests, it was determined that Emily had made the unfortunate change from alcohol abuse to alcohol addiction and, as a result, really needed alcohol rehabilitation and alcohol detoxification. At this difficult time, the healthcare practitioner made it a point to highlight the various alcoholic symptoms and the general symptoms of alcoholism. In addition to focusing a lot of attention on Emily's alcoholism symptoms, the healthcare professional also told Emily that her mental health assessment revealed that she was clinically depressed and in need of treatment for this medical issue.

Due to her enthusiasm for following through with the treatment regimen, after five weeks of inpatient rehabilitation, Emily was ready to initiate rehab on an outpatient basis. At this time, she began working at her new job and over a period of several weeks began fortifying her body by taking vitamins, drinking spring water, living an alcohol-free lifestyle, eating wholesome foods, and working out.

After about ten weeks of outpatient rehabilitation during which time she never suffered through an alcohol relapse, Emily stopped going to alcohol rehabilitation and instead began going three times every week to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Going to these meetings helped Emily maintain her alcohol-free way of life, they provided her with the support she required, and they served as a faithful reminder of the destructive consequences that are related to excessive and abusive drinking. Compared with her life just a few short months ago, life was now pleasant and full of potential that she could have never wished for or brought to fruition while while she was troubled with careless drinking behavior.
