Iscar Adds Their Most Recent Innovations To A Extensive Line Of Successful Hole Making Solutions

Iscar recently released several different drilling innovations to meet their customers needs. These latest products are Sumocham Drill, DR-DH and Deep Drills. Drawing off of their skill Iscar has come up with brand new and innovative ways to expand productivity for the end user. Here is a little bit about these new products, and how they will serve the end user of these products.

SUMOCHAM Drills

ISCAR's new SUMOCHAM drill family is an advanced evolution of the very effective CHAMDRILL and CHAMDRILLJET drill families. The drill features twisted coolant nozzles with indexable drilling heads which are available in different head configurations for a range of material groups. SUMOCHAM drills can be used on milling centers or lathes.

SUMOCHAM incorporates four different standard drill head geometries, designed for unmatched performance and high reliability. The drill head is manufactured with a sharp cutting edge and polished flutes. SUMOCHAM drilling heads are offered in the diameter range of 8 to 25.9 mm. The drill head has ground flutes for smooth, uninterrupted chip flow and a ground gash for improved penetration.

The drill shank design is according to DIN 9766 standard, with obtainable drilling depth to diameter ratios of 1.5XD, 3xD, 5XD and 8xD. All drill bodies showcase coolant through holes. The accurate cylinder added to the clamping portion increases rigidity and reduces internal stresses. The rotation stopper planes are precision ground, to improve the control on the drilling head position and support, increasing tool performance and life. ISCAR's innovative SUMOCHAM drill line will provide longer tool life and higher productivity.

DR-DH Deep Drills

DR-DH drills can achieve drilling depth-to-diameter ratio of 7XD and up. Constructed to be implemented on standard horizontal milling centers, turning, and multi-task machines. Use of additional machine and setup can be avoided. They will be available as semi-standard item in a diameter range of 25.4 to 69.5 mm (1.00 - 2.73").

Two versions will be available:
A Single Flute DR-DH-31.65-0350NC-2FS is a very stiff tool with a patented chip gullet design. It was designed for easily cut materials like cast iron and low alloyed steel.

A Double Flute DR-DH-31.65-0350NC-2FD has a double chip gullet for upgraded chip flow. It was engineered for drilling gummy materials like non-alloyed steel and high temperature alloys.

ISCAR DEEP HOLE DRILLS

With ISCAR's brand new solid carbide deep hole drills, you can safely drill up to 22 times diameter and reach bottom10% faster than with other solid carbide drills - and six times faster than a HSS drill. This capacity can speed up many high-volume operations. The deep-hole drilling station no longer needs to slow down a transfer line or stop it completely because a drill broke.

Different target applications encompass deep holes for automotive, hydraulic blocks and die & mold work. A aggregate of features help the twist drills to cut faster, straighter,deeper, last longer and expel chips more readily. A special high-strength core creates a more durable drill point and allows for deeper flutes, enlarging the exit path for chips.

The drill tip themselves have a 140 positive-point, four-margin design to maintain the edge, decrease thrust forces and aid centering and tracking. A post-coat polishing step on the flutes, margins and cutting edges decreases friction and torque that can easily snap a drill.

The new drills are available in normal diameters ranging from 5 to 10 mm, in 20 and 22 length to diameter ratios. Special sizes are offered on request. All are built of IC908, a 10% cobalt submicron carbide grade, and comes with a TiAlN PVD coating, and can be reconditioned.

Helido-Upfeed 04 Two years ago Iscar introduced the extremely efficient H600 indexable endmill line, based on conceptually new Helido-Upfeed double sided inserts with 6 cutting edges. The first insert launched was the H600 WXCU 0806..., which was designed for milling cutters in the diameter range of 50 to 125 mm.

Completely New End Mills By Iscar Will Expand Productivity While Shrinking Costs
Manufacturers and die & mold shops can banish chatter problems in numerous milling operations with Iscar's new Chatterfree end mills. The cutters' variable-pitch flute pattern eliminates harmonic vibration, the primary source of chatter. This enables faster cutting and finer finish in rough or finish slotting, shoulder milling and cavity milling.

Iscar is introducing a new unique milling system with tangential, clamped, butterfly-shaped LNKX carbide inserts. The butterfly-shaped insert has significant advantages compared to the current flat, square shapes. The new geometry has more cutting edges, positive rake face, reduced cutting forces resulting in higher performance.

Iscar is introducing Penta 34 carbide inserts with a new PB chipformer. The PB chipformer features a single cavity with a positive rake, neutral shoulder angle, and a honed edge. It is actually a C-type chipformer with a different frontal edge.
