I grew up in a town, with little to no neighbors and woods around my house. I didn't have any kind of parks to have fun or playgrounds to climb all over. I am a mother of two now, and the thankful owner of an outdoor swing set. There are days when I just can't cope up with my kids and all I may do is to send them outside to play on it. Without the swings and slide to keep them occupied I don't get a break easily. So it makes me think how my mom managed. I remember climbing trees and hiking down trails in the woods to keep myself busy. Being an avid book reader I could occupy myself for hours in just the details of a story. I don't believe kids these days have it better than we did back then, but I do think they have it easier. The world these days requires so little endeavor in order for it to get amusement. My kids can sit down and enter another world without so much thinking about the word imagination much less using one. The games are all interactive and loud with animation that are better than films I used to be so excited to watch in the theaters twice a year. Whether you think this is good, but most will accept that it is not better.
